I just found your blog today. I am g,g,g granddaughter of Bridget and Bartley Ford! I'm a homeschooler, too, of 4 kids. We live in Indiana.

I cannot believe that I discovered your website & reunion TODAY and just returned from Ireland & Co Mayo THREE DAYS AGO! If only I had known, I might have been able to attend..."Rats!" just doesn't adequately express my frustration!!

Thanks for your reply! I grew up in western NY State, but have lived in Michigan since 1976. My MANLEY/FOY/FORD/MEARS family emigrated from Co Mayo to Chicago. This was my first trip to Ireland, and it is definately my "home". I will get on it to find you on FB and also to send in my family tree. I have a very large data base (12,000+) on Ancestry.com, but the Irish part is the part least known, which I hope to change. Where do you live? I believe my FOY/MANLEY family came through NY to Chicago. The FORD/MEARS family came via Quebec about 1837, by boat, since there were no roads then. Chicago grew rapidly right after then. I suspect the families all knew one another back in Co Mayo.

I wish I'd seen this years ago. My Paternal Grandfather Thomas Munnelly is from County Mayo. He moved to New York about 100 years ago. He was 1 of 10 or 12. The only sisters I knew of his were Margaret and Elizabeth as they both came to the states as well. My sister and I are thinking about a trip to ireland this summer. I've never been and it is long overdue.
