[FYI: By way of explanation, the spelling history of my surname is as follows...on the 1860 Carbondale, PA census, Patrick and Mary's surname is spelled 'Munnelly' (which is the spelling in Ireland); In the 1870 census it's spelled 'Munley'; and ever after it's spelled 'Manley'. Many Manleys I know have the same story.]

Thomas and Mary (Manley) McTaggart:
The elderly lady in the chair is Mary Manley - 4th child of my gggrandparents Patrick Munnelly (from Mayo) and Mary Mahon. Mary was born in Carbondale, PA in 1861. Left is her husband Tom McTaggart and then their daughter Eileen. Far right are my grandparents Michael Thomas Manley (Mary's nephew...son of her youngest brother Michael) and Francis Burek with their daughter Shirley. This was taken about 1930 in Columbus, NE. (The family emigrated to Columbus about 1876 after working in the coalmines of Carbondale, PA for about 20 years. Mary stayed in Columbus while most - if not all - of the rest of her family moved elsewhere.).

Thomas and Lizzie (McGinnity) Manley:
A wonderful person on Ancestry.com recently posted this - I was sooo excited! Finally, a picture of another one of Patrick and Mary's kids. Aren't they cute? I can't help but smile every time I see this picture! Thomas is the oldest living son, born in Carbondale, PA in 1856, moved with the family to Columbus, NE about 1876. After his father died in 1878, and the farm was sold, he and his family (including his mother and siblings) moved to Nance County, NE. By 1900 he and his wife and children had moved to NYC for his job with the Union Pacific Railroad. Tom and Lizzie raised their family in Manhattan, and about 1930 moved to Rosedale in Queens, NY. He died in 1944. Their children are Annie, Susan, Francis, Thomas, Elizabeth and Joseph.(Two other children, Mary and Susan, died in infancy and are buried in Shell Creek, NE).
Patrick J. and Mary (Redden) Manley:
Just recently I was blessed again to make a connection with a living cousin! She is a descendant of Patrick Manley Jr., and I have her to thank for this beautiful photograph. Patrick Jr. is the 9th child in the family, and he was born in Carbondale, PA in 1871. He grew up in Platte and Nance Counties, NE. Patrick and Mary were married in 1903 in Chicago - where the majority of Patrick Sr.'s family eventually moved after his death. Their children are Mary Ann, Patrick, Margaret Cecilia, and Rose. Patrick died in 1925 in a railroad accident (he was a RR foreman).
